The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts in Worcester has provided a total of $1,063,451 to 10 community nonprofits working to address broad health issues. The grants are part of the foundation’s Activation Fund, which provides organizational capacity-building support.
“The goal of the Activation Fund is to provide a one-time infusion of funds for discrete needs within an organization aimed to build its capacity and/or increase its impact in a manner that can be sustained long-term,” said president and CEO of the Health Foundation Amie Shei in a Tuesday press release. “In recognition of the many demands on nonprofit organizations and limited staff resources, we have made a concerted effort to simplify the application process and offer technical assistance in hopes of making the grant opportunity more accessible.”
The grants range from approximately $70,000 to $130,000, and support recipient organizations that serve a variety of community needs. Funding will support, among other things, renovations of a homeless shelter, purchases for increased capacity at a food bank, accessibility upgrades at a veterans center.
