The state Department of Public Health has granted Harrington Hospital‘s cancer center permission to begin treating patients.
The Southbridge hospital’s new facility underwent a safety and quality review by the department, and announced the approval late Thursday.
Harrington is operating the facility, which along with providing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, also houses its own pharmacy and an “American Cancer Society Resource Room,” sponsored by the society.
The hospital is holding an open house at the center, which is at 55 Sayles St. in Southbridge, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
