Healey Gone At Workers'

In a sudden move, Workers' Credit Union President and CEO Frederick D. Healey has been replaced.

The credit union announced Friday that it has appointed CFO Douglas J. Petersen as interim president and CEO. Petersen declined to comment on Healey's departure.

David L. McKeehan, president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, called the situation "a huge loss for the community."

"When you have a community board, sudden things happen at credit unions," he said.

McKeehan praised Petersen and said he expects him to do a good job in his new role, but said Healey will be hard to replace.

Petersen has worked for Workers' since 1995 and spent 11 years in the financial services industry before that.

The credit union said it expects to name a permanent CEO in early 2011.
