Southbridge medical provider Harrington HealthCare System has officially cut the ribbon on its new 16-bed mental illness and substance abuse facility in Webster and expects to begin accepting patients by early January at the latest, according to a company announcement Friday.
The Harrington Recovery Services at Webster was a four-year effort to convert a former medical-surgical unit into a local facility to treat mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Harrington President and CEO Ed Moore told the crowd of 75 people at the groundbreaking Monday the facility will start accepting patients in late December or early January, pending the necessary regulatory approvals.
The facility is one of several of Moore’s initiatives to grow Harrington’s presence in South Worcester County, which also includes urgent care centers and a possible expansion into Connecticut.
