Harrington HealthCare System has received a $10,000 donation from Southbridge-based Savers Bank that officials say will help the organization fund expansion of behavioral health services at its Hubbard Hospital campus in Webster.
The donation will contribute to a new, 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit at Harrington Healthcare at Webster. The 8,200-square-foot facility will focus on treating patients suffering from mental illness and substance abuse. The facility is scheduled to be opened in late 2016.
Harrington received a $3.5 million Community Hospital Acceleration, Revitalization & Transformation (CHART) grant last year to expand behavioral health services in South Worcester County, with $1.4 million allocated for construction of the new psychiatric unit.
The Southbridge-based healthcare system is still “actively seeking community support” to complete the project, Harrington CEO Ed Moore said in a statement.
