The radiation therapy unit at the new Central Massachusetts Cancer Center at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge has opened and has treated its first patient.
The center, which is in a new building at 55 Sayles St. in Southbridge, was developed jointly by Harrington and Florida-based 21st Century Oncology Inc. The center’s radiation therapy unit is run by Radiation Therapy Services Inc. of Florida and is on the first floor. The hospital itself will provide other cancer services on the second floor of the building. That wing will open later this year.
21st Century Oncology operates nearly 100 centers in 16 states.
The new cancer center is at 55 Sayles St. in Southbridge adjacent to Harrington’s existing hospital building.
