Harrington HealthCare System has opened a new addiction treatment facility offering immediate access to those with alcohol and substance abuse disorders.

The new facility, located at Harrington's Webster campus, is unique in providing immediate and ongoing treatment, the health system said. Harrington President and CEO Ed Moore said in a statement the center has been in the works for almost a year, and is especially important with a spike in substance abuse disorders and relapses during the coronavirus pandemic.

The center, called Addiction Immediate Care, was designed based on urgent-care treatment models, with treatment including Suboxone, Vivitrol, methadone and naltrexone, as well as evaluation and treatment of related mental health disorders. Its location was chosen in part because of the availability of other services at the Webster campus, including an emergency department and an intensive outpatient program.

Anyone seeking treatment can call during open clinic hours to make an appointment to be seen within 24 hours. All Massachusetts and Connecticut insurance plans are accepted, and those without insurance will be charged a sliding-scale fee based on income.
