Harrington HealthCare System has hired Katie Adams as its new director of mental health, the nonprofit announced Monday.
Adams joined Harrington after spending the last six years working in clinical social work, according to the company. She became interested in the Southbridge nonprofit as it became more well-known, and was sold on working there after learning about its new dual-diagnosis unit being built in Webster and overall emphasis on behavioral health, she said in a press release.
A resident and native of Brooklyn, Conn., Adams said she wants to help expand services across state lines. The northeastern Connecticut market has considerable behavioral health needs, Adams said, and she feels confident Harrington can help by increasing access to care in that region. Expanding school-based services and restructuring the current outpatient program around a team-based approach are some of her other priorities, according to Harrington.
