Hardwick goes green, gets $150K

The town of Hardwick is getting plenty of green to go along with its new Green Community designation, receiving $150,510 for the achievement.

The designation from the Department of Energy Resources recognizes the town’s efforts to find clean energy solutions that reduce long-term energy costs. All Green Communities commit to reducing municipal energy consumption by 20 percent over five years. The designation also makes the town eligible for competitive funding of projects moving forward.

The designation was created under the Green Communities Act of 2008 with funding coming from the state.
