The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Worcester announced on Tuesday that it had received a $1-million gift from an anonymous donor, marking the largest single contribution in the venue’s history.
The funds will be used to facilitate scholarships through a new endowment at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, specifically for young people studying theatre, dance, music, and technical theatre at the Conservatory, according to the release.
“A gift of this magnitude is truly game changing for our organization and, more importantly, life changing for the thousands of students who will benefit over the years” said Meghan Montaner, president of The Hanover Theatre’s Conservatory and Education Division.
The Conservatory’s new semester starts on Jan. 17, with scholarships made available through an online application process on the conservatory’s website. The deadline for financial assistance applications ends on Jan. 5, per the announcement.
