Hanover Theatre’s ambitious plan to develop a Theatre District out of the surrounding neighborhood in downtown Worcester is getting a $250,000 boost from Bank of America.
The bank’s charitable foundation gifted the funds to the theater, which will help support its expansion project and synergy with the city’s Main Street Reimagined project, which will include a pedestrian plaza and outdoor state in front of the theater.
The bank, which has been a benefactor of the theater for many years, will have the opportunity to name a new outdoor stage on the plaza for use during the warmer months of the year.
The Main Street Reimagined project, expected to cost $11 million, includes repaving, new sidewalks, new traffic signals, new lighting fixtures and other urban landscape projects from Madison Street to Court Street.
Hanover Theatre President & CEO Troy Siebels has made it a priority for the theater and city to work hand-in-hand on downtown projects, including the creation of the Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District.
