The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. of Worcester recently appointed Gerald T. Merritt as president of its professional liability business.
Merritt previously worked for CNA Global Specialty Lines, most recently as vice president of the accountants and lawyers professional liability business. Before CNA, he was a claims counsel at the Continental Insurance Co., and, before that, a defense attorney in New York City.
In his new position, Merritt leads the insurer’s business covering professionals including architects, engineers and lawyers against professional liability claims. The business is part of the company’s Professional Portfolio, which offers various professional and management liability products.
