The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. in Worcester has elected retired energy executive Theodore Bunting, Jr. to its board of directors effective immediately, the company announced Tuesday.
Bunting currently serves as a director for Tennessee-headquartered insurance company Unum Group and the Indiana electric company NiSource Inc., and is board chair of the Foundation for the Mid South. Unum has a New England presence, although it announced in July it is leaving its Worcester office. NiSource formerly owned the Columbia Gas of Massachusetts utility company, but it was forced to sell that division after a series of natural gas-related explosions in North Andover.
Prior to his retirement, Bunting held several high-level positions at Entergy Corporation, a publicly traded energy company based in Louisiana, including group president of utility operations, senior vice president and chief accounting officer, and chief financial officer of various divisions and subsidiary companies.
“We are very excited to have Theo join our board," Kevin Condron, chair of the board of directors at The Hanover, said in a statement. "He is an accomplished and highly regarded senior executive and leader with broad public company experience. We look forward to his active involvement and perspective as we advance our mission and deliver on our promises to our shareholders and other stakeholders."
