The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc., based in Worcester, announced on Tuesday its annual employee giving campaign raised $1.5 million, which will be donated to the United Way and other nonprofit organizations focused on helping the community.
The majority of Hanover’s workforce took part in the charitable giving campaign with 82% of the company’s employees donating funds.
This year 3,500 employees participated and raised $1 million on their own while Hanover's matching program raised the total donation to $1.5-million, per the release.
Funds raised during the employee giving campaign will be disbursed to 111 United Way branches throughout the country and support 1,500 additional nonprofit organizations, according to the announcement.
“I am incredibly proud of our employees, who continue to recognize the important role nonprofits are playing in our communities, especially during the ongoing pandemic, and generously stepped up to help support so many individuals and families in communities across the country," said John Roche, president and CEO of the Hanover Insurance Group, in a written statement from the press release.
