The Hanover Insurance Group Foundation Inc. of Worcester has awarded 21 scholarships to local high school students and the children of Hanover Insurance Group employees.
The foundation, which has a presence in communities where the Hanover Insurance Group operates, has given $45,000 in scholarships so far this year. The foundation has awarded $172,000 in scholarships since its inception.
Scholarships from the foundation focus on the public education system and students who show a commitment to help their communities become "stronger and more vibrant."
Locally, the foundation awarded scholarships to students in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Auburn, Millbury, West Boylston, Wachusett Regional High School and Grafton. Company employees' children who received scholarships attend Boston University, St. Mary's High School, Douglas High School, Northeastern University and Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester.
