Hangover Pub, Broth seek new licenses to reopen

The Hangover Pub, which closed last month due to an owner’s connection to Kevin Perry’s drug money laundering scheme, is applying for a liquor license under a new entity to reopen the Worcester restaurant in the Canal District.

The Hangover Corp., which was registered as a domestic profit corporation with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth late last month, is applying for an all alcohol and common victualer license with the Worcester License Commission.

Michael Arrastia, the executive chef for the Hangover Pub and sister restaurant Broth – both of which are currently closed – is listed as the president of The Hangover Corp.

The restaurant is scheduled to appear before the commission Thursday.

According to the city, owner Christopher Slavinskas surrendered his licenses last month after pleading guilty to concealing $3330,000 in Perry’s drug money from investigators.

Slavinskas, 32, pleaded to a charge of making a false statement to federal investigators. His sentencing is scheduled for June 29, and he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,00.

Slavinskas was listed in state business records as the registered agent of The Hangover Pub, LLC, but that entity no longer holds any licenses to operate the restaurant.

The money came from the drug sales of Kevin Perry, the former owner of The Usual restaurant and Blackstone Tap bar in Worcester, who faces 14 charges in federal court of money laundering and other drug-related charges. Perry pleaded guilty in October and agreed to a sentence of 14 to 16 years in prison and forfeiture of his properties and assets. His sentencing is scheduled for April.

Perry's wife, Stacey Gala, and her business partner Joseph Herman allegedly used a portion of Perry's money hidden in a Northborough storage locker to open The Chameleon restaurant in The Usual's Shrewsbury Street location after the latter closed down once Perry was indicted.
