The Greater Worcester Community Foundation is launching a new six-month financial wellness and sustainability program for Worcester artists of color or artists who identify as low-to-moderate income, funded through the foundation’s Creative Worcester Initiative, according to a Monday announcement.
Dubbed The Business of Art, the program is launching in partnership with the Barr Foundation of Boston, and will be administered with help from MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists.
The program will provide a $1,000 grant along with coaching, artists community-building, and online financial and business resiliency workshops.
The inaugural program will run from November through May.
“This program, an innovative new element of our Creative Worcester Initiative, is infusing the cultural sector with financial resources and expert support to address inequities and to fully recognize the arts as a vital community asset,” said Carolyn Stempler, GWCF’s interim president and CEO, in a statement.
Applications are due by Oct. 18.
