The Greater Worcester Community Foundation in Worcester has granted $2.2 million total to 120 local nonprofit organizations to aid in operations and fund new projects.
The three types of grants, ranging from $5,000 to $90,000 each, offered were general operating support grants, project grants, and nonprofit effectiveness grants, designed to support new perspectives on routine operations, according to a Wednesday press release from GWCF
The foundation received the most applicants in its history this year and provided funding to more than half. The grants came from GWCF discretionary funds donors have established with the foundation.
“For many organizations that applied for and were awarded grants in 2022, one common theme we saw throughout was a willingness to embrace the change and adapt to the new normal following the pandemic,” Tim Johnstone, interim president and CEO of GWCF said in the press release.

Established in 1975, GWCF has awarded more than $123 million to cultural educational, human service, and civic organizations. Its charitable endowment totals $153 million in more than 600 named funds, according to the press release.
