The Greater Worcester Community Foundation announced Tuesday it has distributed 110 community grants to Central Massachusetts organizations in 2021, totaling $1.9 million, according to a press release from the nonprofit.

This year, the grants focused on supporting organizations which foster health and wellbeing, family support, and creativity, the organization said.

GWCF saw its highest number of applicants this year, more than half of which were funded, per the release.

The largest grant allotments went to supporting operations at African Community Education, the Latino Education Institute, the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts, and the Main South Community Development Corp., each of which received $50,000.

For specific projects, the largest grants went to Edward Street Child Services, who was granted $25,000 for a master teacher consultation program, and Friendly House, Inc., who also received $25,000 for its transitional housing.

All of these organizations are located in Worcester.
