3.2 million – Number of individuals covered by HSA type insurance plans, a sevenfold increase between November 2004 and December 2005

42% – Percentage of individuals or families with incomes below $50,000 buying HSA type insurance on their own
By 2010:
14 million – Number of HSA policies predicted by Treasury Department to be in force under current law, covering some 25 to 30 million people
50 % – Percentage increase in HSA type policies in that same period under a proposed new health care initiative, as predicted by the Treasury Department
