A grocery delivery service available via a mobile app and website will be coming to the Worcester area next week.
Instacart on Tuesday will begin bringing groceries to residents 19 ZIP codes in Worcester, Boylston, Berlin, Holden, Northborough, Grafton, Shrewsbury, Westborough, West Boylston, Auburn, Millbury, Marlborough and Southborough.
In an announcement, a spokesperson said the company will begin taking orders from Wegmans, PriceRite, CVS and Petco in as little as one hour. Over 126,000 homes will have access to the service, the company said.
The service will initially be limited to those stores, a spokesperson said.
The company plans to bring on over 100 “shoppers” to fulfill the orders, providing extra income opportunities for Central Mass. residents.
The service works by customers opening the app or website, selecting a city, store and adding items to a virtual cart and then choosing a delivery timeframe. An Instacart shopper then accepts the order on their smartphone and uses the customer’s list to guide their shopping. The products are then delivered to the customer.
First time users can enter the code HELLOWORCESTER (expires Oct. 14) at checkout to get $20 off an order of $35 or more, plus a free first time delivery.
