Griffin profits spike

New York-based Griffin Land and Nurseries reported $6 million in second quarter profits, swinging from a $333,000 loss at the same time last year. The company’s bottom line was boosted by Griffin Land, the Bloomfield-based division, which sold 72 acres of undeveloped land in Windsor to The Hartford Insurance Co., and 103 acres to Aldi, for a food distribution facility. Sales for the company increased to $32 million this quarter from $25 million last quarter.
