The Worcester Metropolitan Statistical Area seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate climbed to 3.8% in August, from 3.7% in July, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development on Tuesday.
The Leominster-Gardner Metropolitan Statistical Area saw unemployment up two percentage points since July at 4.2% in August.
Statewide, the unemployment rate was 3.5% for August.
Both areas have seen large improvements since August 2021 with the Worcester area down from 5.6% unemployment and Leominster-Gardner down from 6.3%.
