Various nursing jobs, from nursing assistants to nurse practitioners, make higher salaries in the Worcester metropolitan area and across Massachusetts than national averages, according to new federal data released Wednesday.
In the Worcester metropolitan area, which includes Worcester County and Connecticut's Windham County, a registered nurse makes an average of $82,960, compared to the national average of $77,460, according to the new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Across Massachusetts, the average is $93,160, boosted by especially high averages in Greater Boston.
Other nursing specialties do better in the Worcester area than most of the rest of the country, too.
Nursing assistants, a more entry-level position, make an average of $31,720 in the Worcester area, compared to $35,040 statewide and $30,720 nationwide. Nurse practitioners make an average of $119,820 in the Worcester area, versus $122,240 across Massachusetts and $111,840 nationally.
Only in California and Hawaii do RNs earn higher salaries than in Massachusetts. https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewdepietro/2019/10/31/nurses-salary-st…
