Gasoline prices in the Worcester metro region rose another 9 cents over last week as consumers wait to benefit from lower oil prices.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the region is $3.47 as of Tuesday, according to data from the travel association AAA. That price is 25 cents higher than the price one month prior.
That is slightly lower than the Massachusetts average of $3.49 and considerably lower than the national average of $3.66.
“The recent surge in oil costs took a break last week, with the price of oil tumbling back into the upper $70s per barrel,” Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast vice president of public and government affairs, said in a Monday press release. “If this oil price trend continues, drivers may see falling gas prices sooner rather than later.”
