The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the Worcester metro area dropped again this week as school vacations begin.
Prices in the region dropped 5 cents over the past week to $3.31 on Tuesday, according to travel association AAA, one cent lower than the same day one month ago.
Statewide the average price dropped three cents to $3.34, lower than the national average of $3.40.
“The U.S. is awash in crude oil with inventories building by 16 million barrels last week. This will put downward pressure on prices overall. Even as refineries are shutting down for planned and unplanned maintenance, it has not contributed to a tighter market so far,” Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast vice president of public and government affairs, said in a Monday press release from AAA.
