The Greater Worcester Community Foundation has awarded $1.935 million to 114 organizations as part of its 2020 Community Grant Program cycle, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The organization supported a variety of projects, including those tackling food insecurity, cultural engagement, entrepreneurship training, health care delivery and youth opportunities, according to GWCF.
“We knew the needs of local nonprofits would be different in light of the pandemic,” said GWCF President and CEO Barbara Fields, in a statement. “It is essential for these organizations to receive the funding and support they need to sustain themselves. In this time of uncertainty, the foundation stepped up to strengthen this sector and meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations.”
Since 1975, GWCF says it has awarded more than $142 million in grants to area organizations, and has built a $160-million endowment.
