Powerball tickets go on sale in Massachusetts Sunday at 7,500 retail outlets across the state and are expected to increase state lottery sales by about $50 million annually.
The state will begin selling Powerball tickets as part of a 33-state agreement to offer both Powerball and Mega Millions.
The addition of millions of players through the agreement is expected to increase the frequency of jackpots that exceed $100 million.
The addition of Powerball to the state’s lottery offerings is expected to bring in between $10 million and $12 million in lottery profits during the current fiscal year, according to a statement from Tim Cahill, state treasurer.
