Major Chicago-based accounting firm Grant Thornton LLP has acquired "substantially all" of the practices of CCR LLP of Westborough, according to Scott Levy, managing partner of Grant Thornton's Boston office.
Levy said the firm will maintain CCR's offices in Westborough, Boston, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Florida. He said it will bring more of its employees to Westborough to expand the firm's New England operations.
"Grant Thornton did not have the presence we wanted in this area of Massachusetts," Levy said. "CCR gives us that presence."
Terms of the transaction, which is effective today, were not disclosed.
CCR was a top-100 accounting firm. Its managing partner, David A. Platt, is now Grant Thornton's assistant managing partner in New England.
Grant Thornton announced last month that the firms were in negotiations.
