Goya Foods in Webster is nearing Webster Planning Board approval for a proposed 129,600-square-foot expansion to its existing facility off of Cudworth Road.
If all goes well, the company could receive approval for the expansion within the next two scheduled meetings, which sets the anticipated approval for Aug. 30.
The project has been in the works since at least last calendar year, but has remained before the board since March, according to public application documents. The project has faced inquiries related to noise, lighting and environmental management.
In December, WBJ reported that the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council had approved a six-year tax break estimated to save Goya just over $300,000. At the time the tax break was announced, Goya estimated the expansion would run $5 million and create 10 new jobs.
The existing Goya facility space in Webster is 205,000 square feet.
RP Masiello Inc. of Boylston is doing both the project's design and construction.
