The Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts have opened its new 7,400 square-foot Worcester headquarters.
The organization's local chapter, which serves 7,000 girls across 186 cities and towns, moved to 115 Century Drive on the West Boylston line after leaving its longtime home on Gold Star Boulevard. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with area officials was held April 25.
The building, which includes a science, technology, engineering and math center, first opened March 25. Some exterior work will continue in the coming few months.
The Girl Scouts sold its former location at 79-81 Gold Star Blvd. to Leominster developer Lisciotti Development last November for $1.25 million.
NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs, a Worcester real estate firm that represented the Girl Scouts in the transaction, has said Lisciotti's plans are to raze the two existing buildings and build an 8,750 square-foot retail building for multiple tenants.
