GFA Federal Credit Union in Gardner named veteran executive John Knierim as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer.
The credit union’s last CFO was David Bojarczuk, who retired from the institution after 14 years.
Knierim was placed by Phoenix-based executive search firm DDJ Myers, according to a Wednesday press release from GFA.
The new CFO got his start in Milford at The Milford National Bank and Trust Co., according to a 2013 press release from Greylock Federal Credit Union in Pittsfield, where he served as CFO that year. He has served as a management consultant and as the chief financial officer of several New England credit unions and banks, according to the GFA press release.
“John is a collaborative, results-oriented professional, and we’re pleased to welcome him to the GFA FCU team,” GFA President and CEO Mark Hettinger said in the press release. “His skills and experience in team building, increasing efficiencies, and creating asset growth will benefit our credit union and our members.”
With $666.2 million in assets as of March 31, GFA FCU is the ninth largest credit union in Central Massachusetts, according to the WBJ Research Department.
