GFA Federal Credit Union of Gardner and Arizona-based tech company Hypur have partnered to provide digital contactless payments, curbside pickup and increased delivery options for cannabis companies who do business with the credit union.
GFA Federal Credit Union was the first first financial institution in Massachusetts to provide banking services for cannabis companies in the state. Very few banks or credit unions have joined its ranks, as marijuana remains a Schedule I drug nationally and puts banks' federal backing in jeopardy.
Hypur’s technology is intended to reduce cash handling and physical contact at checkout and reduce the need for customers to stop at ATMs when patronizing cannabis companies.
“Our cannabis clients look to us to assist them in guiding their business banking needs, and we are excited that they will now have access to Hypur’s trusted, streamlined, and safe transaction systems to take their operations to the next level,” Tina Sbrega, president & CEO of GFA Federal Credit Union, said in a statement.
