Gerber sees earnings skyrocket
Full-year earnings at Gerber Scientific jumped to $13.5 million, up from $2.6 million a year ago, as fourth quarter earnings improved more than 40 percent to $5.6 million. The South Windsor-based manufacturer, which makes equipment for the graphics and sign-making industries, earned 24 cents per share for the quarter and 56 cents per share for the year, up from 17 cents and 12 cents in the comparable periods a year ago. CEO Marc Giles said the company’s bottom line benefited from new products, a growing sales volume in Asia and favorable currency rates.
