The average price of gasoline in Massachusetts has fallen 21 cents since prices spiked after Hurricane Harvey, disrupting the industry in the Gulf of Mexico in August and September.
AAA announced earlier this week the state’s average self-serve, regular unleaded gas price fell another two cents this week to $2.49. That mark has now fallen 21 cents from its post-hurricane spike last month.Â
Still, the state’s gas prices remain 3 cents above the national average and 35 cents above the $2.14 price at this time last year.
Despite the declines, the effects of the hurricanes linger, AAA said.
In early September after Hurricane Harvey ravaged the Gulf of Mexico and parts of Texas — taking oil liners offline — gas prices spiked 44 cents to $2.70.
