Gas Prices Jump 10 Cents, Set September Record

A 10-cent bump in Massachusetts gas prices in the past week helped set a new September price record, according to AAA Southern New England.

According to AAA, the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in the state is $3.90 per gallon, up 17 cents in the past month. A year ago, the average was $3.62.

The current average in the Bay State is 4 cents above the national average and has a range of 32 cents, from a low of $3.77 to a high of $4.09.

The average price of diesel is $4.11, up from $4.07 a week ago.
