Gas prices retreated a bit this week, dropping 5 cents, according to AAA Southern New England.
According to the firm’s weekly survey, the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is $3.83. Last week, it rose a penny, but local prices are down 7 cents in the past month. A year ago, the average price in the Bay State was $3.42.
The current Massachusetts average is 5 cents above the country’s. The range in prices in the state is 33 cents, from a low of $3.66 to a high of $3.99.
A gallon of diesel fuel is up 2 cents this week, to $4.11.
