Gas prices continued to drop this week, falling 5 cents, according to AAA Southern New England.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts is down to $3.42. The range in prices is 66 cents, from a low of $3.23 to a high of $3.89.
Prices in the region have fallen 16 cents in the past month, but are still 18 cents above the national average of $3.24 per gallon.
Last year at this time, the average in the Bay State was $3.21.
After more than a month at $4.08, the average price of a gallon of diesel fuel in the state fell 4 cents over the past week, to $4.04.
