GAAMHA, Inc. has received $450,000 in funding from the first-ever $3-million Massachusetts Social Enterprise Capital Grant Program, to improve its facilities and support its mission.

The Gardner-based nonprofit helps people with disabilities and substance use disorders to find paths to employment, through support, training, and treatment.

The $450,000 GAAMHA received will go toward improving its Gardner facility, including replacing windows and the roof, updating restrooms, and repairing and paving the driveway and parking lot.

The GAAMHA grant is part of $3 million in total funding from the state government’s inaugural Social Enterprise Capital Grant Program, which is designed to spur economic growth in low-income communities. The rest of the funding went to nonprofits in Boston, Chelsea, Hatfield, Lowell, Lynn, and Peabody.
