Full service at $93M Fitchburg commuter station starting Monday

Full commuter rail service for the recently opened, $93-million Wachusett Station on the Fitchburg Line will commence next week, per an update on commuter rail schedules from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Full commuter rail service will begin on Nov. 21. The station had opened on Sept. 30 with partial service, allowing final elements of the station’s construction to be completed. Full details on the new schedule are available on the MBTA’s website.

The station is located at 55 Authority Drive in Fitchburg and was part of the $93-million project Wachusett Extension Project to extend the Fitchburg Line commuter rail service five miles west.

The new station is fully accessible and includes parking for 360 cars. The project also includes the rehabilitation of the track, signals, and bridges on the existing Pan Am Southern rail line along with construction of a new MBTA train layover facility in Westminster.
