Southborough-based fuel cell developer Protonex Technology Corp. said it has been awarded a $1.5 million extension to a U.S. Army contract it won late last month.
The contract carries options that could increase its value to $6.4 million.
The extension calls for Protonex to deliver additional portable battery chargers for Protonex power systems used in the field by the Army.
The Protonex system is a lightweight, 250-watt portable power system that includes fuel cell power and battery charging capability designed specifically for military use.
