The Board of Trustees of Framingham State University has announced three final candidates for the presidency following the departure of FSU’s last president, Timothy J. Flanagan, in May.
The finalists are F. Javier Cevallos, president of Kutztown University in Kutztown, Penn.; Soraya M. Coley, provost and vice president of academic affairs at California State University, Bakersfield, and Katherine S. Conway-Turner, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Hood College in Frederick, Md.
84 Applicants For Post
The three candidates were identified by a 13-member Presidential Search Committee, according to a statement from FSU. The position garnered 84 applicants, and ten were selected for interviews.
“There was a high level of interest in the position, which helped us come up with a diverse and strong group of finalists,” said Richard C. Logan, chairman of the Presidential Search Committee and vice chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We look forward to welcoming each of them to campus in the coming weeks to meet with our students, faculty and staff to share their visions for the future of this University.”
Candidate interviews and meetings with the public are scheduled for December, according to FSU.
Robert A. Martin, former FSU vice president of Academic Affairs, is serving as interim president until Flanagan’s replacement is hired. Flanagan now serves as president of Illinois State University.
