Framingham State University has donated more than $8,000 worth of medical supplies to the MetroWest Medical Center in response to organizations being asked to support healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Faculty from the biology, chemistry, nursing, and nutrition departments at FSU gathered supplies to donate, as well as staff from athletics and the University’s Health and Wellness Center. The supplies included medical gloves, masks, alcohol swabs, Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, and isolation gowns.
“I’m so proud of the efforts of our faculty and staff who jumped into action when we learned about the severe medical supply shortages that hospitals and medical centers are facing. We all need to be looking out for one another at this time,” said FSU President Javier Cevallos.
FSU, like most area schools, has taken its own steps in the face of the coronavirus, which include sending students home and moving all classes online.
