FSU and MassBay offer $28K four-year degree

Framingham State University and MassBay Community College have partnered to offer a four-year degree for $28,000, the cheapest pathway to a bachelor’s degree available in MetroWest, according to the schools.
The program, which costs less than a year of college at most private schools across the country, allows students to earn an associate’s and then a bachelor’s degree in either liberal arts or business. After completing the associate’s degree program at MassBay, students will be guaranteed acceptance to Framingham State to complete their bachelor’s.
All classes for both degrees will be held at MassBay’s Wellesley Hills campus. Students completing upper-level courses in the bachelor degree portion of the program will be considered full Framingham State students and will have full access to its services and facilities. The program is also open to MassBay alumni who have earned associate’s degrees in liberal arts or business.
The degree can be finished at a flexible pace, but students have the most to gain financially by doing it in four years, according to a joint press release issued by the schools.
“It’s crucial for those of us in higher education to expand access to a college education by finding creative ways to lower costs and by reaching out to non-traditional students and underserved populations,” Framingham State president F. Javier Cevallos said. “I believe our partnership has the potential to do both.”
