Front Street's developers have locked in further details for phase one of the project - but they're staying mum on which tenants they're courting for the space's retail and entertainment section.
Representatives of the HB Nitkin Group presented updated images and information to the Capital City Economic Development Authority today, and say the solidified plans will help attract those tenants.
Helen Nitkin of the Nitkin Group said their leasing personnel had been leery of aggressively pursuing potential tenants before they had those final measurements in hand. "With many of these retailers, you only get one shot," she said.
The plans now officially call for 65,000 square feet of street-level retail space in the two buildings that will sit on either side of Front Street. Upper floors will contain 115 apartments and rents will likely be comparable to those of Hartford 21 or Trumbull on the Park developments. The district will have some on-street parking, but a garage of 400 spaces will also go up on site. State officials had been doing remediation work on the site throughout November, and HB Nitkin personnel say that construction will start in earnest this spring.
