Worcester County recorded 231 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths Friday, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The new Worcester County cases are a 3% increase from Thursday bringing the total to 8,786. Statewide, there were 1,239 new cases, up 2%, bringing the total to 83,421.
Friday's new deaths contribute to the total death tally of 538 in Worcester County. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 110 new deaths with now 5,592 total.
The City of Worcester reports 105, or 3%, new cases with a total of 3,311 to date.
The DCU Center field center in Worcester had 11 patients as of Friday. UMass Memorial Medical Center officials said Friday in an online forum with staff it is in the process of closing the facility to patients but would leave it intact in case it's needed again soon.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester had 235 cases total, with 92 in intensive care. The hospitals had seven new deaths adding up to a total of 208 coronavirus fatalities, and 274 employees have tested positive.
Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick report 62 confirmed or suspected cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 29, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Between the hospitals, there are 18 patients in intensive care. Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital and HealthAlliance in Leominster report 47 total confirmed and suspected cases, and 12 in the ICU.
The Department of Public Health also reports 11,318 new coronavirus tests have been performed with 435,679 overall.
Nationally, there are now 1.4 million cases and more than 87,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Throughout the world there are more than 4.5 million cases and 306,000 deaths.
