A former Framingham restaurant specializing in healthy recipes and international cuisine is planning to fill the space left vacant when Greek restaurant Meze Estiatorio moved a few doors down on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester.
The eatery, C’mondz Restaurant, was previously located on Concord Street in Framingham but closed in May anticipation of opening on Shrewsbury Street this month.
The restaurant and husband-and-wife team Christ and Analyn Mondzali will go before the Worcester License Commission on Thursday to obtain alcohol and entertainment licenses.
Christ Mondzali, who has a background in IT and management, has been working as a chef since moving to the U.S. from France 17 years ago.
He’s worked in California and Las Vegas, but local experience includes La Voile Restaurant in Boston and Alta Strada in Wellesley.
His speciality is vegan food, but the restaurant offers cuisines spanning the globe, including French, American, Asian and Mexican.
“Diversity matters,” the chef said during a brief tour of the remodeled restaurant space Tuesday.
The Framingham restaurant was open only for a year but received a perfect five-star rating on Yelp.
In Worcester, the restaurant offer breakfast and lunch on the street dubbed Restaurant Row.
“This is the holy grail,” Mondzali said of the location.
On its website, the restaurant said it has scheduled a grand opening for July 27, featuring free appetizers and soft drinks.
According to its website, the restaurant also features a vegan menu.
Meze moved to the former home of The Usual and The Chameleon in February, buying the building for $525,000 from the federal government after it was seized due to the former owner’s drug and money laundering crimes.
I heard about this chef ... Cants wait for his restaurant to open!!!
