Free coronavirus testing expands to Framingham as cases rise

Gov. Charlie Baker is expanding the state’s free coronavirus testing program to Framingham, according to a Monday announcement.

Framingham will join 16 other Massachusetts communities falling under the Stop the Spread initiative, which provides free testing to communities whose test rate has decreased while total cases and positive test rate are above the state average.

Framingham’s 14-day average positive test rate as of July 29 was 3.09%, according to a press release, up from 1.82% on July 8.

In Central Massachusetts, the Stop the Spread initiative is also operating in Marlborough and Worcester.

All residents in those communities are encouraged to get tested, even if they are asymptomatic. Testing will be available through Aug. 14, with specific locations listed online at mass.gov/stopthespread.
