U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, R-MA, was expected to present a Franklin company, Tegra Medical, with the first annual Next Generation Manufacturing Award from the Associated Industries of Massachusetts Manufacturing Institute.
AIM chose Tegra after a survey of more than 2,500 manufacturers in six performance areas including innovation, talent management, systemic improvement, enterprise management, sustainability and global engagement.
Tegra was founded in 2007 and is a precision machining and contract manufacturing service for medical device companies. It has 400 employees at its 81,000-square-foot headquarters in Franklin.
Five of the other eight finalists for the award are also from Central Massachusetts including Barry Controls in Hopkinton, Checkerboard LTD in West Boylston, FIBA Technologies in Millbury, Incom Inc. in Charlton and MTD Micro Molding, also in Charlton.
