Framingham’s HeartWare Sees Quarterly Growth

Framingham-based medical device maker HeartWare International said it expects full-year revenue for 2012 to come in around $110 million, with about $32 million coming during the fourth quarter.

HeartWare, which makes implantable heart pumps, or ventricular assist devices, took in $82.8 million in revenue in 2011. A revenue level of $110 million would represent a year-over-year gain of about 33 percent.

The results reflect positive initial trends in the launch of the company’s Ventricular Assist System in the U.S., which HeartWare counts on for about 40 percent of its fourth-quarter revenue, said President and CEO Doug Godshall.

Godshall added, "We remain optimistic about long-term global market growth prospects and HeartWare's role in stimulating that growth.”
